It stands at the centre of the story and yet seems to conceal something. Does it harbour a long-forgotten secret? Longing, greed, violence, unhappy love. How does it relate to the human destinies that unfold at its foot? The musical theatre «SIMELIBERG» explores precisely this mythic dimension of our Swiss folk songs. The choir stands on stage together with five actresses and actors. Song and performance blend together and take us on a musical theatrical journey back to the time of our ancestors and to the origins of our Swiss history. Revival of Swiss folk song play With «SIMELIBERG», the forgotten genre «Swiss folk song play» is brought back to life. The piece features well-known old Swiss folk songs, including «Schönster Abestärn», of course the Guggisberg song, and some lesser-known ones too. Young composer Moritz Achermann has arranged the folk songs anew for «SIMELIBERG». After a successful tour with stops in Solothurn, Bern, Zurich, Sursee, Uster and Guggisberg, the musical concludes its journey with a triumphant finale. The vocal ensemble stimmig and the Guggisberg choir come together and tell the moving Swiss myth with the performers, transcending all cantonal boundaries. Joachim Aeschlimann, Ana Jukic, Christine Lather, Miro Lorenzo Maurer and Peter Rinderknecht perform and sing as soloists. Magdalena Irmann plays accordion. The framing narrative is by Ueli Blum. Boris von Poser directs. The concerts take place on Saturday, 31 October at 18:00 and on Saturday 1 November at 16:00 in the Weissen Wind hall in Zurich. Seating is limited. Reservation is recommended (admission CHF 35/25). Cast: vocal ensemble stimmig!, Achim Glatz Guggisberg Choir…
